Elders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, from Kanam Local Government Council of the state have warned members to stop causing disaffection in the party by misinforming others about the outcome of the councilloship primaries in the area.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong, ex- Deputy Speaker, Hon Yusuf Babayo Gagdi made the statement at a press conference at the Headquarters of the All Progressive Congress on Wednesday in Jos.
They affirmed the Saturday result of Councillorship primaries/ congresses was free and fair.
Rt Hon Yipmong advised those who are spreading wrong rumour that the primaries in Kanam LGA was manipulated to stop causing disaffection because the Congresses was conducted successful in accordance with the laid down procedure.
He said the Congresses held across the 17 local government including Kanam. According to him, Kanam LGA has 20 wards in which the results were collated without hitches except in two wards, Kunkyam and Namaran in Tankful ward under Dengi constituency where results were cancelled because they were found to have been tampered with.
“We are a peace loving people and would continue to be law abiding citizens that uphold the leadership of the State Chairman, Hon Latep Dabang “, he said.
The former Deputy Speaker Hon Gagdi said the issue would be resolved by the party when it conducts a rerun in only two of the wards in Dengi constituency and called on the general membership to disregard statements capable of steering conflict in Kanam LGA.
