The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court (FHC), Justice John Tsoho, has approved the immediate redeployment of five judges across different judicial divisions.
A statement by FHC Director of Information, Catherine Christopher, said the affected judges include Justice M. Umar, who moves from the Enugu Division to Abuja; Justice Tijjani Ringim, redeployed from Gombe to Yola; Justice M. Segun-Bello, redeployed from Abakaliki to Enugu; Justice Bala Usman, from Yola to Awka and Justice Amina Mohammed, transferred from Awka to Gombe.
The redeployment takes immediate effect, with all affected judges expected to finalise any pending judgements in their current stations as swiftly as possible.
“In the interim, judges presently serving in the Abakaliki and Katsina Judicial Divisions are to oversee all existing and incoming cases in their jurisdictions until further directives are issued”, the statement noted.
In a related directive, the court clarified that all cases previously assigned to Court No. 5 of the Abuja Division will now be handled by the judge newly deployed to Abuja.
This move eliminates the need for litigants or their counsel to apply for reassignment.
