The United States has deported six Nigerians over various criminal offences as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement efforts.
The deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday aboard a Delta Airlines flight.
They were received by officials from relevant Nigerian government agencies, who are expected to determine the next line of action.
The US government had earlier announced plans to intensify deportation exercises in line with its immigration policy.
President Donald Trump had initiated a sweeping crackdown on immigration during his first 100 days in office, significantly expanding enforcement operations and permitting arrests near sensitive locations such as schools and courthouses.
