NIMASA Alerts the Public on Attempted Sea robbery in Nigerian waters.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety, NIMASA, authority has alerted the public that there has been an attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters. Officials of the Agency at the C4i center monitoring the situation on Tuesday April 21, 2025, noted an illegal boarding of a Marshall Islands-flagged chemical tanker “Sea Panther” southwest of Brass, Nigeria.

According to its Head of Public Relation, Mr. Edward Osagie, “this is the first of such attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters since 2021.Four individuals boarded the vessel and made away with some personal items of crew members

He added that all crew members are safe, and MT Sea Panther has since sailed off Nigerian waters safely. “NIMASA is working closely with relevant security agencies and further investigations into the incident are ongoing.”
