The national grid system, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has suffered partial disturbance on Tuesday afternoon, marking the ninth grid failure in 2024.

In a statement, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said the partial disturbance occurred at about 1:52 pm.

TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the disturbance occurred following a series of line and generator tripping that caused instability in the grid and, consequently, the partial disturbance of the system.

According to her, the data from the National Control Centre (NCC) revealed that a part of the grid was not affected by the bulk power disruption.

“TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance. Presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja at 2:49 pm, and we are gradually restoring it to other parts of the country. We sincerely apologise for every inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers”, she stated.
