The death has occurred of a senior Journalist in Kogi state, Late Comrade Matthias Omale.
Late Comrade Matthias Omale died on Monday in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital following an illness.
Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, described the death of Comrade Matthias Omale as unfortunate and great loss to the profession.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Seidu Ademu Haruna and Secretary, Comrade Olusegun Ayindero-Oyenibi noted that Comrade Matthias Omala has contributed in no great measure to the successes achieved in the Union in the State while in active service.
According to the statement, the one-time Vice President of Zone D would be missed for his meaningful impact at the National and State Levels fostering unity, peace and love among members.
The statement which described death as the end of all mortals, condoled with the immediate family and friends of the deceased and prayed God to grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss as well as granting his soul eternal rest.
Late Comrade Matthias Omale worked with the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation and retired in November, 2015 as Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs after attaining 35 years of meritorious service.
