Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has given the assurance that efforts being made woul ensure the safe return of all abducted pupils and teachers of LGEA Primary School, Kuriga, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
Sani who gave the assurance while addressing journalists during his visit to the school said all arms of security agencies in the country were working to secure the release of the captives.
Gunmen suspected to be bandits, on Thursday morning, invaded the Government Primary School in Kuriga community and kidnapped 218 pupils and teachers, including the head teacher.
Governor Sani said, “As of this moment, we have not been able to know the number of children that have been kidnapped but what I can say here is that by the grace of God, under my able leadership, we will try as much as possible to ensure that every child returns by the grace of God, INSHA Allah.
“We shall do our best. I want to work with the community leaders and the youths to ensure that every child returns home by the grace of God. We have also sat down with the parents of the children who have been kidnapped.
“We are sending a strong message to the mothers that one of the most important roles of the government is to ensure the safety of lives and properties of its citizens. We will ensure that every child comes home safely.
“Just an hour ago, I discussed with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and he assured that they are working. I also spoke with the GOC, he also assured that they are also trying.
“The police and the DSS are working closely with the Kaduna State Government, under my leadership, to ensure that no child is left behind,” God Sani assured.
