The Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appointed a former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Olaide Adelami, as his deputy.
The appointment of the Deputy Governor came shortly after Aiyedatiwa dissolved the State Executive Council.
Earlier on Wednesday, Governor Aiyedatiwa dissolved the State Executive Council he inherited from the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Adeniyan said the dissolution takes immediate effect.
All affected cabinet members were ordered to hand over to senior public officers in the various ministries or parastatal agencies.
The statement reads in part: “The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.
“All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.
“Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.
“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.”
The Governor, however, appreciated “the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.”
The deputy governor’ sextensive career in public service began in 1983 as an Accountant II in the Federal Civil Service.
Notably, Chief Adelami played a pivotal role in establishing the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly, subsequently earning key appointments such as heading the Finance and Accounts Department and later pioneering the Department of Procurement and Supplies.
Beyond his public service contributions, Chief Adelami is recognised for his philanthropy, particularly his establishment and ongoing support for the Music Department at the School of the Blind in Gindiri, Plateau State, empowering visually impaired children with musical skills.
