Bello Presents Staff of Office to New Ohimege-Igu of Koto, Charges On Security, Unity

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state on Wednesday, presented Staff of Office to the new Ohimege-Igu of Koton-kafarfe, His Royal Majesty, Saidu Akawu Salihu with a charge to traditional rulers across the state to live above board in completing government’s efforts in security of lives and property of their subjects.

The governor while performing the ceremony at the Palace of the Ohimege-Igu Kingdom in Koton-kafarfe, also called on the royal fathers to give priority to the unity, love and Peaceful co-existence of their subjects in their respective domains.

According to Governor Bello, no society worldwide can thrive in terms of upliftment of living standard and over all development under the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony

“Our royal fathers have a pivotal role to play under the current rising insecurity ravaging the entire Nigeria more especially the case of alarming kidnapping across the country

“I therefore, implore the new Ohimege-Igu Kingdom to do the needful in the areas of complementing government’s task to ensure the security of lives and property as well as fostering the needed unity, love and peace within his domain”

He commended Koton-kafarfe people for standing by the truth through due process in selection of the new Ohimege-Igu.

The new monarch who is the chairman of Lokoja/Kogi/Koto-kafarfe Traditional Council received his Gold Plated amidst cheers and excitement.

Our Correspondent reports that the 26th Ohimege-Igu of Koton-karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Koto was dethroned and deposed by the Kogi state government recently.

Responding, the new Ohimege-Igu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Saidu Akawu Salihu promised to serve with humility, integrity and dedication and to uphold the traditions and values of the Kingdom.

“I will be a listening ear, a strong advocate and a bridge builder. My doos will always be open and your voices will always be heard. With your support and the grace of Allah, I am confident that we will create a future filled with pride, harmony and boundless opportunities” His Royal Majesty, Saidu Akawu Salihu assured.
