Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State
Edo State Government on Wednesday slammed suspension order on three Heads of Local Government Administration in the state over negligence of duty.
The order which takes immediate effect was announced by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu after a brief meeting with 18 HOLGs in his office in Benin-City, the state capital. Those affected are the administrators Igueben Local Government, J.D Igeleke, his Owan West and Owan West counterparts, respectively, Chis Ize-Iyamu and Ademola Shaibu.
According to the Comrade Shaibu, the suspended administrators had repeatedly flouted the state governments order to keep the roads in their vicinity in good, motorable condition by preventing heavy duty trucks to pass through their domain and thereby destroying the roads. Shaibu described their action as, “gross negligence of duty”.
Lamenting the wreckage caused by heavy duty trucks on some of the inter-state link roads such as the Auchi-Owan East-Owan West-Iruekpen; and the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi roads, he said the state government has repeatedly done palliative work on these axis to serve as alternative routes to alleviate the sufferings of commuters, adding that the negligence of the administrators had rubbished government’s efforts.
