In its bid to cater to the health of the citizenry, Oyo State Government is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all state-owned health institutions are well equipped.

Towards this end the government has bought medical equipment worth two million US dollars

Briefing journalists on Wednesday at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan after the state Executive Council meeting, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Azeez Adeduntan, disclosed that the equipment was received at the Ring Road Specialist Hospital, Adeoyo, Ibadan.

The commissioner said the state government facilitated the equipment in its effort to ensure and improve healthcare delivery in the state.

He said the equipment would soon be distributed to the state-owned hospitals across the state.

The Neuro-Surgeon stressed that the step was to stop medical tourism, adding that hospitals in the foreign countries were not better than those in Nigeria.

He disclosed that the state executive council has also approved the launching of an endowment fund to support the ongoing transformation in the health sector of the state.
