Nigerian Army Confirms Death of General, Three Soldiers In ISWAP Attack in Borno, Yobe

The Nigerian army has confirmed the killing of Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu and three other by ISAWOP terrorists in an ongoing fight with the troops of the Joint Task Force, North East HADIN KAI in Borno and Yobe states.

The “fierce encounter which is still raging in the Askira Local Government of Borno State,” according to Brigadier General Onyeama Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, is “supported by Air Component, which has destroyed “A-Jet, two A-29, two dragon combat vehicles and nine gun trucks.”

He said the families of the senior officer and soldiers have been contacted.

He said the “Army Chief of Staff Lt Faruk Yahaha deeply commiserates with the families and relations of the fallen and directed that the troops continue in the ferocious counter-offensive and hot pursuits to eliminate the remnants of the fleeing terrorists.
