Amb.Gideon Dung Dandereng, middle and stakeholders during his nomination
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC , in Jos South Local Government in Plateau State have endorsed Amb.Gideon Dung Dandereng as their consensus candidate for the chairmanship in the upcoming council elections in October.
According to Ayuba Pam in press conference held at senator DB Zang compound in Jos South, Dandereng was picked as a consensus candidate in observance of the party’s directive on zoning formula.
“We are happy however today to note that the Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, has publicly declared to say election into all the seventeen councils will hold after the review of the security situation in these council areas .
“This decision by the governor , has no doubt revived partisanship and increase interest in direct grassroots participation in the electoral process not only in the affected council areas but the state. In pursuant to the state electoral guidelines, our party ,the ruling APC has released timetable leading to October council election stating nomination of party flag bearers shall be by consensus where all stakeholders of the party agree abinitio .
“We stand to agree to the party decision which further stated ,in the event a consensus is not reached ,all interested chairmanship aspirants shall be nominated through direct primaries by all registered members of the party .
“As loyal party members ,we want to appreciate the role of the critical stakeholders in Jos south who met on Saturday ,June 12 ,2021 being democracy day to take far reaching decision to return back to her zoning system by maintaining status quo.
“With a divine mandate they collectively endorsed Hon Gideon as their consensus candidate for the chairmanship post .
