The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has empowered another batch of 420 unemployed youths in Kogi on skills Acquisition.
The beneficiaries who were selected from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state are currently being trained on various vocational trades that would make them self-reliant.
Speaking at the commencement of the orientation programme in Lokoja on Wednesday, the Kogi State coordinator of NDE, Mallam Zakari Abubakar said that the training which will last for three months is aimed at reducing the dependence of the youths on White Collar jobs.
He said that the trainees will acquire skills in any trade of their choice among which are hair dressing, fashion and design, aluminum fabrication, GSM repairs and others.
The state coordinator reiterated the desire of the Acting Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo to fulfill the mandate of NDE which is to create jobs for the teaming unemployed youths to the satisfaction of President Mohammed Buhari.
He enjoined the youth to justify government’s huge investment on them by taking the training seriously.
Responding on behalf of the other trainees, Yakubu Isah thanked the NDE for the rare opportunity given them to acquire skills that could turn their lives around positively and promise to be of good behaviour throughout their training period.
