The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has said the Nigeria Police in the state is not ready to return to unrepaired stations that got destroyed during the EndSARS protests.
The State Commissioner, CP Edward Ajogun, while speaking at the occasion of Investiture of grand patron, patrons and advisers of Ogun State Command of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Abeokuta said, “the police didn’t destroy the stations, the youths did”, hence its decision to return to duty only after the stations are repaired.
CP Ajogun also thanked the traditional rulers in the state for forming a human shield round the stations so as to discourage youths from burning them down, and commended the people of Obada for their promptness in repairing their police station, which was also destroyed during the EndSARS protests, noting their effort facilitated the immediate return of the police to their areas.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ogun State PCRC, Dr. (Ven) Samson Kunle Popoola in his remark, encouraged the police to be more friendly with the people, adding that it’s everyone’s responsibility to help the police to be friendly, by being law abiding citizens of the country.
The event had dignitaries in attendance and about fifteen of them were honored like Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Alamo, the Olu of Itori, Prof. (Mrs) Chinedum Peace Babalola and the Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta.
