Gov Okezie Ikpeazu
The Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has described the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, the late Chief Johnson Onuigbo as a very courageous leader.
Ikpeazu stated this at the funeral service of the late chairman at Ugba Primary School, Umuobasi Ugba-Ibeku Umuahia, the state capital, urging his family not to sorrow as people without hope.
Describing Onuigbo’s death as a loss to many people, he said this year 2020 is a year of sober reflection and called on all to reflect on their lives as they would give account of their lives to God.
Speaking earlier, the Bishop, Diocese of Umuahia, Anglican Communion, the Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi called on all to repent of their sins and live good lives that please God.
The bishop, who took his text from Ephesians 5:15-17 and spoke on the topic “Do not be foolish,” said the late knight of the church was a sincere and straight forward person, who touched lives during his lifetime
In his funeral oration, Onuigbo’s first son, Tochukwu Onuigbo, described him as an embodiment of peace, love, compassion, integrity and humility who served the church and society in various capacities.
Onuigbo Jr. further said that their father lived a worthy and godly life and left enduring legacies for which he will eternally be remembered, adding that they would miss him dearly.
The event attracted the presence of the deputy governor and his wife, Sir and Lady Ude Oko Chukwu, members of the National Assembly from the state, and the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Engr. Chinedum Orji and the members among others.
