A Protester
The Patriots for Growth and Development Initiative (PGDI), a nongovernmental organization has asked the federal and state governments to use every legal and constitutional means to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians against the ongoing #EndSARS protests across the country.
Addressing journalists in Lokoja on Monday over the development, the Executive Director of PGDI, Isaac Salami expressed worry and concern on the dangerous dimension of the protest which has been hijacked by hoodlums to cause mayhem across the country.
While calling on leaders and patriotic Nigerians to lend their voices and support for end of protests in various states of the federation, the PGDI Boss solicited adequate monitoring of the implementation of the demands of the protesting youths as approved by the federal government to a logical conclusion and to the benefit of all citizens.
“We believe that if these trends is not quickly arrested, the nation may be thrown into a state of anarchy. The continuous escalating acts of disruption, attacks and killings in recent days in parts of the country is a carefully planned effort and handwork of the fifth-columnist and enemies of Nigeria subverting the relative peace and unity in Nigeria
” We understand that the original intentions of the protesting youths is for an end to SARS, and for Police reform. We also affirm the constitutional and democratic rights of every patriotic Nigerians to protest but should be peaceful in nature” Salami explained.
He expressed the confidence in Buhari’s administration to tackle the the grievances of the protesting youths as government has already started the implementation of all the Five-point demands of the protesters.
He allayed the fear that the continued protest could create opportunities for bad elements to perpetrate anarchy capable of breaking law and order as well as threat to lives of innocent citizens.
