For the first time he was in the starting line-up since the round of 16 matches, Kingsley Coman, who played his first game against Chelsea at Stampford Bridge in their 3-0 win, header in the 59th minute goal to break the deadlock and gave Bayern the deserved win in a gruelling match. Sidelined by injuries, he was too quick with the ball this time round.

PSG duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe did not deliver as they had boasted or promised and the early chances that came their way were frittered away. Diving and cursing, Neymar worked himself up too easily and failed to pull the magic with Mbappe, who was either caught off-side as he tried to penetrate deep into Bayern’s 18 yard box. With ball possession at 62 per cent against PSG 32, Bayern lived up to the billing as a compact, fluidly team.
