For many years, I have preached, advocated and fought for good governance in Nigeria. On several occasions, friends reminded me that no matter how loudly I shouted about good governance at the national level, the struggle would amount to little if charity did not begin at home.
I took that advice to heart and domesticated my struggle. From 2013 to 2023, I committed myself to the political and developmental aspirations of Abia State, until the God of Abia answered our prayers in 2023.
Today, Abia State is in the hands of the man we collectively fought to enthrone. His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has demonstrated intentional governance, purposeful leadership and remarkable resilience. His administration has given renewed meaning to the possibilities of good governance.
His reward should be more work!
I am therefore unequivocally standing with Dr. Alex Otti in 2027 to complete his second and final constitutional term of four years.
Beyond Abia, there are three other governors whose leadership records have earned my support for re-election:
They are
1.His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State.
2.His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
3.His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani Governor of Kaduna State.
These four governors, in my assessment, have demonstrated capacity, responsible leadership, compassion and a commendable sense of humanity in governance. I believe their respective states stand to benefit from continuity in leadership.
I therefore urge my friends, associates and admirers to give these leaders another opportunity to consolidate their achievements and complete the good work they have started.
Good governance, like a good product, should sell itself. It does not need excessive billboards, television advertisements or radio jingles to convince discerning people of its value. Performance remains the strongest campaign message.
For the avoidance of doubt, this assessment and endorsement are strictly limited to the governorship positions in the respective states. They should not be construed as an endorsement of every candidate or political consideration at other levels of government.
I also recognise that political choices are a matter of democratic freedom. You are at liberty to nominate any governor, in your state or elsewhere, whom you consider deserving of another term. Feel free to make your choice. That, after all, is the beauty of democracy and the exercise of our freedom of choice.
Leadership should be rewarded with continuity when performance justifies it.
SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED!
Dr. M. O. Ubani, SAN (MOU).
