…As NGO Admonishes Youths To Shun Thuggery, Violence, Ethnicity

Administrative Secretaries in the 21 local government areas of Kogi state have drummed support for the second term bid of governor Yahaya Bello.
Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Lokoja under the auspices of Association of Local government secretaries, the body said that their support was hinged on the performance of the governor in the last three and half years in the saddle of leadership in the state.
Joseph Omonaye who addressed the press conference on behalf of the association, described Governor Bello as the best that have governed the state since its creation 28 years ago.
According to him, “it is on record that before the arrival of Governor Bello, no one sleeps with two eyes closed, but now, his efforts had paid off and people can now go to bed with their two eyes closed.
” He bought over 1000 security vehicles, because of his love for his people, he took security as his first priority. The story of Kogi has changed, gone are the days when the whole appointments in Kogi state is focused on one Senatorial zone, while other zones will be turned to onlookers “
Meanwhile, a Non governmental Organisation under the platform of Kogi Youth Peace Advocate (KYPA) has advised youths across the state to shun thuggery, violence and ethnic sentiments capable of disrupting the polls.
The president of the group, Comrade Abdullahi Ahmed made the call in Lokoja while addressing journalists yesterday, shortly after the group ended their peacefully precession campaign rally in the capital city to drum support against involvement of youths in thuggery and violence in the society
The president of the KYPA stated that their major aim is to bring different ethnic groups of youths in the state together and educate them on the evils of tribalism, cultism and thuggery on their life and the society at large.
Buttressing his points, Ahmed posited that the youths are always preys of politicians, especially during the election period, as they are already made tools in the hands of ambitious politicians who were out to satisfy their interests by all means and at all cost.
Comrade Ahmed who said the membership of the group cut across all the ethnic groups in the state noted that the issue of tribal sentiment has eroded the credibility of leadership in the state, arguing that they earlier this sentiment is dropped, starting from the youth of the state, the better for the future of leadership structure of the state.
In the same vein, Mr Emmanuel Abbey, the commander of the state Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) who was represented by Mr Aloseyus.O Adejo, while speaking on the theme “Shun-Tribalism,Violence,Thuggery for the betterment of Kogi State” at the occasion, said youths should put their act together and avoid vices that will land them in trouble.
He urged the youth in the state to operate within the law of the land, and shun vices like thuggery kidnapping and Arned robbery, adding that the youth should be able to call the bluff of those looking for their service to break the law because of their interest or ambition.
