… As NWC Upholds Screening and Appeal Committee Reports on Kogi and Bayelsa Governorship Primaries

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has given reasons for the clearance and disqualification handed down to some aspirants after a deliberation on the reports of the screening and appeal committees for the Party’s Bayelsa and Kogi governorship primaries.
The party said in the case of Kogi, the nine aspirants who were cleared to contest Wednesday’s primaries met the party’s requirement in accordance with the Electoral Act.
For Bayelsa, six out of seven were cleared while the only disqualified aspirant,
Dr. Briyai Oyeins Frankland was stopped because he is not a card -carrying member of the party.
According to Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, National Publicity Secretary of the party in a statement, “the APC NWC upheld the disqualification of Dr. Briyai Oyeins Frankland based on Section 3 Paragraph “L” of the Party’s guidelines for the nomination of candidates, which requires that aspirants are card-carrying member of the party for a period of one year.
“The party also found no record of his membership of APC and was therefore considered ineligible.”
The six who cleared to participate in the governorship primary in Bayelsa state are: Mr. Aganaba Preye Steven, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Prince Ebitimi Christopher Amgbare, Ms. Diseye Nsirim Poweigha, Mr. Lyon David Pereworimini, and Engr. Prof (Mrs.) Ongoebi Maureen Etebu.
The nine aspirants finally cleared to contest the August 29, indirect governorship primary in Kogi and the seven who were disqualified are:
