No fewer than seven were reported killed during the alleged invasion of parts of Kogi state by Herdsmen at the early hours of Tuesday on two separate attacks.
Some herdsmen were said to have allegedly invaded Koton-Karfi and Onzo communities in Kogi local government area killing seven persons.
It was gathered that the two separate attacks took place early hours of Tuesday at about 2 am and 3 am.
The Kogi State Command of the Nigerian Police Force through its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Williams Aya, however, told Our Correspondent on telephone chat over the incident that the Police is yet to be briefed on the development.
According reliable source, a mountain surrounding the communities were discovered to have been the hideout of the suspected herders without the knowledge of the people.
It was also reported that at about 2 am on Tuesday the suspected herdsmen numbering over thirty fully armed with AK 47 and other dangerous weapons invaded the communities and opened fire on the houses of the people.
According to the source, the suspected herdsmen divided themselves for the coordinated attacks on the two communities.
It was also gathered that three persons died on the spot during the attack which lasted several hours.
Meanwhile, the Administrator of Kogi local government, Barrister Muhammed Tanko who confirmed the attacks while speaking with our reporter yesterday said the security agents in the state are on the top of the situation.
He noted that the attack took them by surprise because koton-karfi community is a peaceful community.
