Civil servants in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Plateau State have pitched for the reappointment of the outgoing commissioner of the ministry, Dayyabu Garga, following what they called his legacy of purposeful development that needed to be sustained for the desired impact to be felt by the people in the state.
Led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr James Yilna’an during the hand over of notes by the former commissioner to him at the ministry, the workers urged Governor Simon Lalong to reappoint Dayyabu Yusuf Garga as commissioner to the ministry for him continue with the good gesture transforming the ministry to an enviable high.
He said: “We the staff of the ministry for local government and chieftaincy affairs which expressed gratitude that Garga has left behind a legacy of commitment to the development of Plateau state through qualitative leadership that had impacted positively ton the welfare of workers since he came on board.”
According to him, “the staff would remember you for the good work, we still want you to continue to pilot the affairs of this ministry. As staff we didn’t appoint you but our hope and aspirations was for us to request that Lalong should bring you back.”
Responding, Garga has said one of the problems affecting proper work at the Ministry for Local Government Affairs in Plateau state is that of shortage of manpower and lack of vehicles for smooth operation by the ministry
He appreciated the staff for the overwhelming support given him during the four years tenure as the commissioner in charge of the ministry but appeal to the staff to give same to the permanent secretary and new commissioner .
Garga said with the cooperation of the staff the ministry he was able to complete the renovation of the offices, which was extended to zonal offices with modern equipment that has added value to smooth administrative purposes.
Governor Simon Lalong dissolved all his commissioner on the 28th May, 2019 by instructing them to hand over to their permanent secretaries which today he is complying with the directive.
