As Yahaya Audu, a younger brother of a former governor of Kogi state, late Prince Abubakar Audu, joins the race for the Kogi east senatorial district seat at the national assembly come 2019 general elections, he has promised quality representation that will bring massive development in the zone.
Speaking with newsmen at the press centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, Audu said he was in the race to create a new frontier of positive achievements and progress for the Igala/Bass nation.
He said his ambition was based on the need to institute a new concept of representation in governance, accountability, a new agenda of sustainable development to restore the hope of the people of Kogi east.
Audu, who is aspiring on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), also argued that Idah federal constituency where he hailed from was the only one out of the three federal constituencies in Kogi east that had not occupied the seat, urging the stakeholders to allow the federal constituency occupy the seat.
He said farm produces from the area which include yam, cashew, palm would be explored maximally to boost the economy of the area and the entire state.
He said, “We are yet to derive any benefit from the coal deposit in Okaba despite its high quality, large commercial deposit and high potential. We must understand that we are in an era of practical solution, for us to develop the Igala/Bass a nation, we must renew our efforts at industrialisation beginning from small and medium scale enterprises”
