The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has slammed the Abia State government for giving room to insecurity in the state by failing to address the challenges confronting the people.
Steering Committee Chairman of the party in the state, Hon Chidi Nwosu stated this while speaking to our correspondent after the kick-off of its membership registration in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
He blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration for failing to provide conducive business environment for both individual and business development to thrive.
“The basic infrastructure and social amenities that drive economies are absent in the state. The major cities have been taken over by heaps of refuse dumps here and there,” he said.
According to the former member of the state House of Assembly, who represented Umuahia South state constituency the SDP is “here to take over the government democratically in the forthcoming election to address the anomalies.
The former lawmaker, who lunched his political carrier on the platform PDP and latter defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his new party had come to stay in the state.
He insisted that the party, which took the country by storm in the 1993 general election, had been rebranded and poised to give the people the leadership they deserves.
