Pastor Isaac Omohoro, the Area Superintendent of Apostolic Church of Nigeria (TAC), Lokoja Area, has urged government at all levels to have compassion on their citizens and pay salaries regularly.
He made the call at a news conference after Easter Sunday to mark the 18th Edition of TAC’s Easter Youth Retreat, themed: “We Are Bent But Not Broken” at the Church Area Headquarters in Lokoja.
He said: ”I am appealing to our state governors to pay salaries to workers which is very important. The government of the day should have compassion on the citizens and show mercy. When salaries are paid, people will be able to take care of their health, immediate needs, children, and it will keep them healthy.
“So, it is an appeal to states and federal government in general that they should have compassion on the citizens and pay salaries of the civil servants. The leaders are all Nigerians, no foreigner among them; so we want them to put themselves in the shoes of the common man because people are suffering.”
The cleric, however urged Nigerians to have faith and confidence in the Almighty God to overcome all the challenges confronting the nation, saying “God Emmanuel’ is still with us as a people and as a nation”.
“If only Nigerians can appreciate this wonderful gift of Christ from God which he has given to mankind, the insecurity situation in Nigeria including Boko Haram and herdsmen killings, and kidnappings would be surmounted.
In his remarks, Pastor Paul Olukunle, the Area Witness Leader, told newsmen that “there is hope for this nation, we believe God that since Jesus died and rose again, there is hope for Nigeria.
“Impossibility will become possible, Nigeria will rise again to a greater height. With our PVC we can take our destiny into our hands.
“We urge Nigerians to go and register and collect their PVC to vote for the right and God fearing candidate of their choice in 2019”.
