Peter Obi, LP Presidential candidate
Fellow Obidients, in the past few months, we have worked energetically, and have earned for ourselves, the globally acclaimed third force. Kudos to the ‘Obidients, but that is where the bulk starts. We have taken up a huge responsibility to deliver the new Nigeria of our dream and the unfolding events in the past few months have unveiled how daunting it is to deliver this task.
The task is before us is herculean, an uphill task that not only looks tough but blink to achieve, considering the many odds before us.
The FG itself, has demonstrated visibly, its unwillingness to make the elections free and fair. INEC on the other hand has demonstrated a clear lack of control of the electoral process and inability to create a level playing ground in the upcoming general elections.
The political opponents, on their part has openly truncated the entire electoral process by deploying their “almighty structures” of State governors, security agencies, INEC commissioners and sadly too, some hardline party loyalists who are themselves part of the impoverished members of the public.
The ‘Obidients’ are fighting against principalities and powers that are doggedly, fighting and unwilling to relingiush power to a popular incoming government championed by Peter Obi. This is the reality of the challenges before us, and as if all that is not bad enough, the Labour Party itself is quite unprepared and apparently, disorganized to take up full responsibility of executing the campaigns.
It is now the responsibility of the ‘Obidient’ movement, as the real change agent that must deliver the new Nigeria of our dream against all odds, to double her efforts to rescue the nation from the claws of our oppressors.
The Labour Party and its presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti, must wake up from their slumber, and realize that the ‘Obidient’ movement looks up to them particularly, and not the party. Hence, they must do everything possible to give the support groups that are behind the movement, the necessary assistance to enable them to execute the campaigns vigorously across the country.
The time is quite limited, and the Labour Party must immediately swing to action and start pushing out their billboards, banners, poster, radio jingles and TV adverts, not excluding digital adverts, and especially, social media campaigns. The support groups, being the ground forces, should be given flyers, T-shirts, Face caps, stickers and logistics that will enable them to execute the campaigns to the nooks and crannies in all the units, wards and LGAs in the entire country.
