The Police Command in Lagos State has assured resident of their safety during Yuletide.
Public Relations Officers, PRO, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, in a statement, said the command had increased the presence of policemen across the state, including patrol vehicles at strategic traditional points and sought the cooperation of Lagosians
Famous-Cole disclosed that these measures were being taken to checkmate the activities of hoodlums and other social vices especially on traffic-logged routes occasioned by construction works and port operation.
Some of these routes, he said, include Oshodi/Gbagada expressway, Apapa, Illupeju, Mile 2, Apkongbon and other locations within the state.
According to him; “The command wishes to assure lagosians that it has tackled effectively the problem of traffic robberies across the state”, Famous-Cole said.
He added that “On Friday 10 November 2017, over twenty eight (28) traffic robbery suspects were arrested and will soon be charged to court.”
” Lagosians should go about their normal business and disregard any unfounded and mischievous claims of robberies on major Lagos highways,” and appealed to the public to partner effectively by giving credible information to the police and report strange or suspicious movement within their area.
Apart from assuring Lagos residents of their safety during Yuletide, the Command issued phone numbers to call in case of emergency:
