Yuletide:  Over 1, 400 Officers of NSCDC on Red Alert

As the many nations world over are set to celebrate Christmas and New Year, the Kogi state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has placed red alert on 1, 400 officers to provide adequate security for Kogi and its environs during the festive periods.

The Commandant of NSCDC, Kogi state command, Philip Olusola Ayodele, disclosed this at the weekend while briefing journalists in Lokoja on the lined up  activities  to reduce possible road mishaps as a result of the busy traffic flow during the festivals.

The Commandant said that Kogi state which is bordered by ten states and the FCT requires proactive strategy to nip inter state criminals assuring that the corps’ unorthodox method of operation has always caught criminals off guard.

He said apart from the regular personnel, over 1400 have been mobilised to the state to provide smooth flow of traffic to motorists and to ensure a crime free celebration, stressing that the location local of Kogi state made it a hotspot in this period of Christmas and New year celebrations.

He called on parents and the religious bodies to monitor activities of their children and wards saying that parents and the religious institutions  have a  strong force  in the conduct of their  children .

The Civil Defence boss assured the electorate of its readiness to provide security before, during and after the election, stressing that free and fair election is a collective responsibility of the citizenry.
