Wike Allies Sweep Rivers APC House Of Reps Tickets

By Ayo Kehinde

Allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have emerged victorious in the House of Representatives primaries conducted by the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The outcome of the primaries further consolidates the influence of the Wike political camp within the Rivers APC structure amid the lingering political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Prominent among the winners is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, who clinched the APC ticket for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency. Amaewhule’s victory is widely seen as a major political statement, coming months after the deepening rift between pro-Wike lawmakers and Governor Fubara.

Other candidates who secured the party’s tickets include Solomon Bob for Abua-Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency and Victor Obuzor for Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Federal Constituency.

In Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency, Isobo Jack emerged victorious, while Frederick Apiafi secured the ticket for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency.

For Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, Cyril Hart won the party’s nomination, while former Head of Service, Felix Nwaeke, clinched the ticket for Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo Federal Constituency.

Similarly, Dum Deekor emerged as the APC candidate for Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency.

In Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency, Linda Somiari Stewart secured the ticket, while Chigeru Amadi won the primary for Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency.

Also emerging victorious was Igwe Precious, who picked the party’s ticket for Port Harcourt I Federal Constituency.

Political observers say the outcome of the primaries reflects the continued dominance of the Wike political structure within the APC in Rivers State and may significantly shape the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
