The steering committee Chairman, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Abia state, Hon Chidi Nwosu has vowed that the party would end what he termed as “the Peoples Democratic Party misrule in the state.”
Nwosu spoke to our correspondent in his office in Umuahia, the state capital, adding that the people were eagerly waiting for the 2019 general election to show the PDP the way out in the state.
He said the people had become so fed up with the inability of the ruling party to deliver on its campaign promises that they cannot risk entrusting the leadership of the state into its hands again.
The former member of the state House of Assembly representing Umuahia South State Constituency maintained that, “the people have had enough of this deceit and cannot endure it any longer.”
Reminded that he was once a member of the PDP, he exonerated himself from the blame, adding that he left the party as soon as he noticed that it had lost the vision of its founders.
Nwosu, who spoke for the constituency between 2007 and 2015, speaking further on the mission, argued that his party has the vision, capacity and follower ship to unseat the PDP in the state.
According to him, the SDP has within the short time of its arrival in the state appealed to the people that its leadership had been working round the clock to ensure that intending members were all registered.
He said he was sure that majority of member of the other parties in the state would soon join the bandwagon of intending members for the SDP because of its inclination to social Justice.
“Come 2019, SDP will form the government in the state and I can assure you that the people will be better off for that after lagging behind others in the comity of states in the federation,” he said.
The chairman said the major trust of an SDP government in the state would be protection of lives and property, infrastructure development, improved basic social amenities and youth employment among others.
