The Federal University, Lokoja, on Wednesday, organised its maiden exhibition of research work products as part of the activities marking the 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony.
The essence of the exhibition is aimed at showcasing its potentials and capacity building to the public and the wider world.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi while declaring the exhibition open at the institution’s Auditorium in Lokoja on Wednesday, said that the exhibition featured Research Breakthroughs from Faculty of Science and Entrepreneurship as well as Manufacturing Companies in Kogi state.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the exhibition also displayed abundant Mineral Resources in Kogi state as a show of natural blessings in the state.
“Our goal for the maiden exhibition is to showcase what we are doing to the public and worldwide” the VC said
Professor Akinwumi used the opportunity to call on the federal government to assist the University in funding of future research exhibition project in view of its dwindling finances
He expressed delight that the success story of the first exhibition since the establishment of the University happened during his time as Vice Chancellor.
Kogi state commissioner for Environment, Victor Omofaiye, while speaking at the event, appreciated Professor Akinwumi for his initiative and sound innovation to embark on the exhibition project
Omofaiye expressed the readiness of the Kogi state government in providing enabling environment for the growth of the University both in academic and infrastructural development
The commissioner also congratulated the University on its 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony.
The University’s Director of Research, Professor Nasurideen Suleiman, described the exhibition project as a laudable vision which will go a long way in boosting research works and skills acquisition.
He called on the Federal Government and the University’s Management to invest more in research works and innovation
Some of the manufacturing industries in Kogi state and research officials from Nasarawa State University, witnessed the exhibition ceremony.
