Manchester City have become the sixth different English team to win the European Super Cup, after beating Sevilla 5-4 on penalty shootout at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens, Greece on Wednesday.
Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest have all lifted the cup before.
It’s the first time City have been in this competition and they’ve won it.
They clinched the trophy during a 1-1 draw at full time against Sevilla on Wednesday after En-Nesyri opened scoring for the Europa Champion with a header in the 25th minute before Palmer equalised in the 65th minute for the League Champions.
It is Manchester City players’ fourth winners’ medals of the year and for Sevilla payers who got their runners-up medals, this is the sixth time they have lost the Uefa Super Cup.

“If anyone played with me they know I don’t like taking penalties because I don’t like letting people down if I miss. Pep put me in at five. [I wanted to] show leadership. Luckily it went in and was the winning one.”
