UEFA Semi: Real Madrid Stun ManCity (6-5) in 90th & 91st Minutes

Even if you were a believer in the famous adage that it is not over until it is over, the last minute come back of Real Madrid from elimination by Manchester City in the 2022 UEFA Champions final still be hard to grasp and interpret because in two minutes a 90 minutes game was truned on its head at the last minutes.  City one goal lead until the 90th minute of the match had sealed Real fate.

City had taken the lead in the 64th minute through a Riyad Mahrez’s strike that gave them a comfortable 5-3 goals on aggregate.

But everything changed in the 90th and 91st minutes through the Brazilian Rodrygo first goal and then an equalizer that pushed the game into extra time. The dream of an English Champions League final with Liverpool evaporated and City became a shadow of themselves.

It was during the extra time that Real talismanic Benzema made the difference. But more was yet to come.

After dribbling past Ruben Dias in the box and was brought down by the City defender, he calmed down to sieze the golden opportunity and scored the penalty in the 95th minute, his 43rd goal of the season.

With this fantastic win, Real set up a final with Liverpool. When both teams met in the finals in 2018, it was Real that won the day by 3-1. Will hostory repeats itself?
