In a tension soaked match they dominated on Tuesday night, Chelsea painfully failed to deliver the goals and in a swift counter attack, the Champions of Europe and visiting Real Madrid made a quick work of the game
N’Golo Kante had Chelsea’s best opportunities while Marc Cucurella and substitute Mykhailo Mudryk also failed to cash in on good positions.
Rodrygo scored the winning goals on break after Kante and Cucurella missed great chances, first with powerful assist by Vinicius Jr and Valverde in the 58th and 80th minutes.
Chelsea Gallagher, speaking to BT Sport, sums it up; “I feel like we played well and had a lot of chances. But football is all about taking your chances which we didn’t do today. Of course we are going to be gutted. We haven’t got that [cutting edge] at the minute but that was definitely a big improvement on recent performances.
The Carlo Ancelotti’s side got away on superior 4-0 goal difference at Stamford Bridge, having won the first time, 2-0.
The other cracker of the night was the return tie between Napoli and AC Milan, which ended 0-1 (Agg 0-2 Milan)
Giroud put Milan in front after missing early penalty.
Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, had a golden chance to put Napoli back into this tie but goalkeeper Mike Maignan read him well and went down to his right to save the penalty. Milan are into the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2007.
