President Muhammadu Buhari and his United States counterpart, Mr Donald Trump Monday have agreed to work together to tackle insecurity in Nigeria in the years ahead.
The Nigerian Airforce Monday took delivery of two gunships from Russian towards the fight against terrorism. Spokesman, Abdulganiyu Olabisi said Russia experts were in the country to assemble the aircraft before they are deployed to the conflict zones in the country. The gunships were part of the four fighter jets that were ordered by the country in 2015 for which two were delivered in December, 2016
Buhari who is on an official visit to the US also said that his government was addressing the herdsmen/ farmers clashes that has claimed many lives and led to the destruction of properties in many parts of the country and registered his appreciation to the Trump administration for this support to fight terrorism.He spoke during his address to the press at the White House alongside his host.
Harping on the main focus of his administration to include security, governance, human rights and anti-corruption, Buhari praised Trump for successfully intervening to tackle hostility between North and South Korea.
Trump however revealed that the Turcano Jet fighters for which Nigeria has paid $496m would be ready in 2020, while noting that both countries would cooperate in areas of mutual benefit to them.
