Following the brutal torture of an Okada rider in Kogi, Onimisi Ilori to death by the operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a youth organization under the aegis of Kogi Youths for Social Justice has called on the Minister of Interior to immediately sack the state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , Mr Everastus Obiyo.
The Okada rider was said to have been tortured to death by the Corps on Sunday at the Ogaminana office of the NSCDC for refusing to admit he stole the motor cycle of his master.
The deceased was said to have earlier informed his master that the motorcycle was stolen a day earlier where he had parked it.
But the Corps who interrogated the suspect were said to have insisted that he confessed that he stole the motorcycle, a situation which made them to beat him black and blue before he was later allegedly tortured to death.
However, in a press statement signed by Agiri Alex, the Public Relations officer of NSCDC, he said the suspect was not tortured to death but that he committed suicide in their cell.
But the president of the youth organization, Comrade Adeiza Mohammed said the NSCDC was being economical with the truth.
According to the him, ” how can a suspect who was thoroughly searched, his cell phone, money and everything on him were confiscated before he was detained and even he was said to have been stripped naked before he was tortured to death now come to commit suicide?
“This is the lie of the century and we want the federal government to investigate this and bring all those involved in the murder of the innocent boy to justice, because the excesses of this Civil Defence people are too much” the statement added
