President Bola Tinubu will on Friday, December 19, present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.
The disclosure was made in a letter read at Thursday’s plenary of the House of Representatives by the Speaker, Mr Abbas Tajudeen.
In the letter, President Tinubu informed lawmakers that, in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he would formally lay the proposed 2026 Budget before the National Assembly at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
The annual budget presentation marks the formal transmission of the Federal Government’s fiscal proposals to the legislature for scrutiny, consideration and eventual approval.
An alert earlier issued and signed on Wednesday by the Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development of the National Assembly, Adm. Essien Eyo Essien, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr Kamoru Ogunlana, also confirmed the scheduled presentation.
The alert detailed security and access arrangements for the event, directing all accredited persons to be at their duty posts by 11:00 a.m., as access to the National Assembly complex will be restricted thereafter. Non-accredited persons were advised to stay away from the complex on the day.
It further directed National Assembly staff members, except the Clerk to the National Assembly, the Deputy Clerk, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, the Clerk of the Senate and their deputies, to park their vehicles at designated areas within the Annex or the new car park by the National Assembly Service Gate.
