President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the winners of Saturday’s elections conducted in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parts of Kano and Rivers states, commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and voters, for what he described as peaceful and successful polls.
INEC conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT, alongside bye-elections in the Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies of Rivers State, the Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged all those elected to office to serve with humility, patriotism and dedication, reminding them that the mandate bestowed on them by the people is a sacred trust that must be honoured through selfless service.
The President particularly commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as remarkable achievements in the territory, noting that effective governance and visible development have translated into political dividends for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu also congratulated the APC national leadership, as well as the party’s leadership and members in Kano and Rivers states, for recording victories at the polls.
He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and Nigerian voters for their roles in ensuring the orderly and peaceful conduct of the elections, saying the process reflected growing public confidence in the country’s electoral system.
According to the President, the courage, discipline and sportsmanship displayed by all contestants further enriched Nigeria’s democracy, as participation and healthy competition remain essential to democratic growth.
President Tinubu said the successful conduct of the elections has further strengthened Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutions, urging INEC to continue improving its processes to deliver even more credible and exemplary elections in the future.
