President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 59th birthday, describing him as a loyal and dependable partner in the drive to build a better Nigeria.
In a statement personally signed by him, Tinubu praised Shettima’s “courage, sense of duty, tenacity, and belief in Nigeria’s greatness,” adding that his choice of Shettima as deputy had been fully justified.
“Today, September 2, 2025, presents another unique opportunity to celebrate you, my brother, co-traveller, and Vice President, as you mark another birthday,” Tinubu said.
The President highlighted Shettima’s record of service as a two-term Governor of Borno State and later Senator representing Borno Central, noting that he exemplified leadership as service even in the face of daunting challenges.
“Every day, as Vice President, you have justified my choice by strengthening our work, bringing fresh perspectives, and upholding our commitment to Nigerians. Your dedication reassures me that I did not make a mistake in choosing you as my deputy,” Tinubu said.
He lauded Shettima’s role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing efforts to secure global partnerships, drive food security, and implement investment reforms.
He also expressed confidence that their collaboration would continue to deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians through improved infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation.
Tinubu further described their relationship as a bond that transcends official duties, calling Shettima’s example “a reminder of what is possible when Nigeria comes first.”
Wishing him renewed vitality and wisdom, Tinubu concluded: “Happy birthday, Kashim, and many happy returns.”
