President Bola Tinubu has lauded the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, for his steadfast commitment to peace, unity, and cultural preservation as he marks nine years on the revered Benin throne.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday, said the President praised the monarch for his tireless efforts in tackling social vices, particularly human trafficking and irregular migration among youths in Edo State and across the country.
Tinubu described Oba Ewuare’s reign as a period of impactful leadership marked by the promotion of cultural identity and national cohesion.
He also commended the Benin monarch for championing the recovery and repatriation of looted African artefacts from Europe and other parts of the world.
“As the Oba of Benin marks nine years on the ancient throne of his forebears, the President extols his exemplary leadership in preserving Benin’s cultural legacy and transmitting it to future generations,” the statement read in part.
Tinubu joined the government and people of Edo State, the Benin Royal Family, and the traditional council in celebrating the monarch, praying for continued wisdom, good health, and a long reign in service to his people and humanity.
