President Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, departed Lagos for Europe, continuing his end-of-year break ahead of an official engagement in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, invited the Nigerian leader to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, scheduled to be held early January.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is a globally recognised, week-long summit that convenes leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to shape strategies for sustainable development and inclusive economic growth. The forum serves as a platform for advancing practical solutions to global challenges, including climate change, energy transition, food security, and technological innovation.
The 2026 edition of the summit is themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, highlighting the need to connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and human capital. The event will showcase forward-looking ideas and partnerships aimed at accelerating sustainable development and building resilient economies.
President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s growing engagement in global conversations on sustainability, climate action, and economic transformation, as well as the country’s commitment to fostering international cooperation in addressing shared development challenges.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
