Three Killed, Nine Injured in Collapsed Building In Lagos

Three persons have been killed and nine others injured in a collapsed building in Lagos. Fire fighters and officials of the Lagos State Agency are already at the scene.

The building located at 23 Freeman Street in Lagos Island on Saturday had already been marked for demolition according to the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA Dr.Olufemi Oke- Osanintolu, who spoke to journalists at the scene of the incident, confirming the casualty.

He was joined at the site by officials of Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning, the Nigeria Police and other relevant agencies. The incident however occurred at about 4.05 am while occupants were fast asleep and thus trapped inside.

He urged residents to be more safety conscious and obey rules of government regarding planning and building of their homes and offices.

“Lagosians need to take care of their safety and when government set the rules, people should endeavour to abide be them,” he said while confirming the casualties from the collapsed building.
