The Federal High Court in Abuja has barred Mrs Favour Kanu from streaming the proceedings of the court on her Facebook page and attending the court’s three proceedings.
Favour is the wife of Prince Fineboy Kanu, the younger brother to Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently facing a seven-count amended charge of treason and terrorism preferred against him by the Federal Government. He has been in the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 27, 2021, when he was extradited to Nigeria after he was re-arrested in Kenya on June 19, 2021.
Justice James Omotosho gave the order on Tuesday after Mrs Favour admitted engaging in the act.
The judge expressed surprise that despite Mrs Favour’s phone being confiscated on the last adjourned date when she was caught recording him, she still went ahead to post the video online.
“I want to hear from her. Were you not the one that I took your phone? I did not give order to forfeit that phone. I don’t know if she might be a wife to my brother (Nnamdi Kanu)”, the judge said.
While Mrs Favour along with Kanu’s lawyer, Kanu Agabi, SAN, apologised for the act, Justice Omotosho cautioned against any act that could cause delay in the trial. He assured all parties in the case that justice would be served.
