Tension is mounting in Gindiri chiefdom of Mangu Local Government Council of Plateau state in North-Central Nigeria as gunmen, suspected to be bandits have invaded the resident of the paramount ruler on Boxing Day afternoon, HRH Charles Mato Dakat and kidnapped him.
A palace source disclosed that the bandits numbering 30 stormed the royal palace through the back door, after destroying part of the building to gain entrance into his private room in the early hours of Sunday and shooting sporadically to scare the residents . The suspected kidnappers later escaped with the traditional ruler to an unknown destination.
According to the witness, “we had a very peaceful Christmas celebration only this early morning when we were preparing for Boxing Day festivities, a group assailants stormed the palace after overpowering the local vigilante to attack the home of our Paramount ruler.:
Efforts to speak to the PPRO of the Police Command in Plateau State, Mr. Gabriel Ubah as at press time proved abortive as he would not pick my phone call.
However, as the time of filing in this report no message or communication has been heard from the suspected kidnappers.
