Super Eagles Tame Indomitable Lions 4-0 in Uyo

Substitute Kelechi Ihenacho for injured Ighalo in the 82 second minute ,Victor Moses, Captain Mikel Obi, and Odion Ighalo peppered the Indomitable Lions of Cameroom with four goals to move Nigeria one step close to qualifying for the World Cup in Russia in 2018. Mikel and Ighalo popularly called the ‘China Eagles’ proved their mettle by lifting the Super Eagles 2-0 in the first half and the duo of Ihenacho of Leicester and Moses of Chelsea added the valued 2-0 goals in the second half to reduce the African Champions to a shadow of themselves at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Mikel who plays for Tainjin Teda in China and his compatriot Ighalo of Changchun Yatai are playing for the Super Eagles for the first time this year.

A win in Cameroon will qualify the Eagles for the World tournament. The match comes up on Monday, September 4 in Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital. By this win Eagles now top group B with nine points, leaving Cameroon far behind with two points.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday’s impressive win over the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and also commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for its continued support and provision of excellent hosting facilities.
