Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ekom Ayambem, has been impeached.
Ayambem who represents Ikom 2 State Constituency in the Houses of Assembly, was impeached over alleged charges of gross misconduct and administrative high handedness.
The motion for his impeachment was moved on Wednesday, by Effiom Ekarika, the member representing Calabar South 1 Constituency and seconded by Omang Charles Omang, the lawmaker representing Bekwarra State Constituency.
Seventeen members of the Assembly supported the motion for Ayambem’s impeachment.
