Singer Portable In Custody, Says Police

The  Police Command in Ogun State has confirmed that controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is now in its custody.

The singer, who was declared wanted on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, voluntarily turned himself to the police.

Earlier, Portable had reportedly surrendered to operatives at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

However, in an update on the matter, Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, disclosed that the singer arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 1:23 p.m. on Wednesday.

“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at exactly 13:23 hours today, February 19, 2025.

“His presence at the SCID is connected to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary,” she said.

The singer’s legal troubles stem from allegations of physical assault on government officials during a recent enforcement exercise.

The police had earlier issued a public declaration, urging him to report to authorities for questioning.
