Saraki Commiserates With Victims Of Katsina, Ogun Flood

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday, expressed heartfelt condolences with the people and government of Katsina and Ogun States over the death, injuries and loss of property occasioned by flood in the respective states.

Saraki, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, called on the security agencies and emergency response teams to do all in their powers to mitigate the pains and sufferings of the people as a result of the incidents.

While calling on town planning agencies to take their job more seriously, he called on Nigerians in flood prone localities to heed the warnings of the Nigerian Metrological Agency (NIMET) to prevent further loss of lives and property.

He pledged the readiness of the National Assembly to work with all relevant agencies to stem the tide of flooding across the country, ensure that injured victims are given prompt medical attention and the affected communities rehabilitated.

He called on the authorities of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to support the efforts already being made by relevant agencies of the Katsina and Ogun State Government to provide immediate succour for the injured and displaced persons.
