Sacked Priest: Group Laments Gov. Ambode’s Action

A group under the aegis of Save Lagos Group (SLG) has condemned the action of the Lagos state governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode over the sacking of the Venerable Femi Taiwo, for allegedly disrespecting his wife, Bolanle.

The group in a signed statement by its convener, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman urged Senator Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to call on Ambode to rescind the order, describing the governor’s action as “a crime against humanity and God.”

He urged the state government to apologize to the Chaplain, the Anglican Church and the Christian community in the state on whose back the governor rode into office during the 2015 elections.

In the same vein, the civil group also queried the rationale behind the removal of status of the late legal icon and social crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi from Ojota area of the state and urged Ambode to restore it to its former location where it is seen by all entering and leaving Lagos State, adding that the area and Gani’s status serve as a symbol of democratic struggle in Nigeria.
